Gas prices may be at an all time high here in the United States but that doesn’t mean we have to walk around with heads looking at the ground, this is no way to live our lives! Instead, we should be looking at other alternatives to find ways to save on gas. Besides working on our driving habits, there’s another thing on the market that can give back to you and it’s called a gas credit card.

A gas credit card such as the BP Visa is a great way to save on gasoline. For instance, for the first sixty days you can save ten percent on your fillips at any BP gas station. Some find that’s better than nothing but others seem that they can do better. In my opinion, I truly believe that this is one of the best cards on the market. You may start to think that just because this is an introductory rate that the rates after the card are going to be awful and that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, after the sixty days are up, you can save five percent! If you look at most cards on the market, some don’t even live up to this for their intro rate! What do you think about that?

Gas rebate cards can save a lot of people a lot of money and it’s important that you remember a few steps before you start swiping that card the gas pump. Credit card companies stay in business by charging you a huge interest rate on your unpaid bill. A credit card like BP I mentioned above has a fairly low industry standard rate of about ten percent. Remember, this rate changes constantly. If you don’t pay your bill off in full, that rate is going to be applied to your bill over the long run. This is why it’s important that you pay your bill off in full each month so that you don’t get tacked with that interest rate.

By now you’re probably wondering that ten percent for the card mentioned above isn’t even that much money but let’s put the math to work so that I can show you exactly how much you can save. Let’s make things easy and say that gas is four dollars a gallon and you fill up with ten gallons each week. Your total gas bill is going to be forty dollars. Let’s take that forty dollars and deduct the ten percent for the first sixty days. Sixty days equals about eight weeks. We’re now saving four dollars a week. Let’s take that four dollars we saved and multiply it by eight weeks. We now have a savings of thirty two dollars. Do you see how quick we can save on gas? It works wonders!

And a Bush appointed Conservative US Supreme Court protects corporate/special interests in Exxon Valdez spill.

In the case of Baker v. Exxon, an Anchorage jury awarded $ 287 million for actual damages and $ 5 billion for punitive damages. The punitive damages amount was equal to a single year’s profit by Exxon at that time.

To protect itself in case the judgment was affirmed, Exxon obtained a $ 4.8 billion credit line from J.P. Morgan & Co. This in turn gave J.P. Morgan the opportunity to create the first modern credit default swap in 1994, so that J.P. Morgan would not have to hold so much money in reserve (8% of the loan under Basel I) against the risk of Exxon’s default.

Meanwhile, Exxon appealed the ruling, and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the original judge, Russel Holland, to reduce the punitive damages. On December 6, 2002, the judge announced that he had reduced the damages to $ 4 billion. After more appeals, and oral arguments heard by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on January 27, 2006, the damages award was cut to $ 2.5 billion on December 22, 2006. The court cited recent Supreme Court rulings relative to limits on punitive damages.

Exxon appealed again. On May 23, 2007, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals denied ExxonMobil’s request for a third hearing and let stand its ruling that Exxon owes $ 2.5 billion in punitive damages. Exxon then appealed to the Supreme Court, which agreed to hear the case.[23] On February 27, 2008, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for 90 minutes. Justice Samuel Alito, who at the time, owned between $ 100,000 and $ 250,000 in Exxon stock, recused himself from the case. In a decision issued June 25, 2008, Justice David Souter issued the judgment of the court, vacating the $ 2.5 billion award and remanding the case back to a lower court, finding that the damages were excessive with respect to maritime common law.

Exxon recovered a significant portion of clean-up and legal expenses through insurance claims.

Will the Oil companies buy conservatives to power just to ‘save’ a few Billion dollars? Relatives of the deceased only have a few votes and a few dollars – will not buy a lot of ‘free’ speech with conservatives these days?

hi, i applied for bp chase visa card. and on status number it says that my application is being reviewed and i’ll get decision in mail in 7-10 business days.
and in same month before applying bp visa from chase i applied for a chase freedom card and i was approved.
i never had any credit before that but my car’s payments i financed some months ago.
so my question is will i get approved like what was it like with you if any of you had a 7-10 business days response in mail.

i my self am waiting on a captial one card
i PAY in Full with in the 25days grace period!

good idea to pay with in the grace period,as you will not have to pay interest rate like other people that pay for my rewards
