Do you STILL thinki that Sarah Palin is qualified?

Question by Raji the Green Witch: Do you STILL thinki that Sarah Palin is qualified?

Subject: re: SARAH PALIN

Dear friends,

So many people have asked me about what I know about Sarah Palin in the last 2 days that I decided to write something up . . .
Basically, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have only 2 things in common: their gender and their good looks. :)
You have my permission to forward this to your friends/email contacts with my name and email address attached, but please do not post it on any websites, as there are too many kooks out there . . .

Thanks,
Anne

ABOUT SARAH PALIN

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.

She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a “babe”.
It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents for seven months.

She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby. There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby.
She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym.

She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit.

Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything like that of native Alaskans. Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters.

She’s smart.

Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents.

During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $ 22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $ 1m for a park. $ 15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $ 5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once.
These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.
As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state. In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s surplus, borrow for needs.

She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas t
To all the naysayers and those who think this was nothing but BULL. It was on NPR’s All Things Considered today as well. LOL… So much for THAT theory
Agent 99, I am very tolerant of just about everyone..but THIS is not a matter of being tolerant. Our Nation’s if not the entire WORLD’s future is at stake here and I sure as heck DON’T want to see our ufture put into the hands of some NUTCASE from the middle of nowhere. Ms Plain wants to paly with the big kids, well the big kids ply by the rules and she isn’t playing bythe rules. She needs to be called on it and it is NOT a matter of sexism, it’s a matter of patriotism. She is onlyin it for herself and it’s high time that folks like her get called on it.

Raji
Baloon Buster, Anne HAS been interviewed. She was interviewed on NPR’s “All Things Considered” yesterday (Friday, Aug 6th). I don’t think that this is going to go away unless the CURRENT administration decides to pull ot the National Security Act and call the media a “terrorist Organizatin and have them all “detained” until AFTER the election.

Gas Credit Card – Why You Need One

Article by Hamm Morgan

You’ve probably heard about the sub-prime debacle in the US. You’ve also probably heard about any possible US economic downturn might also affect the rest of the world. Whether one lives in Asia, South America or Africa everyone will be affected. A popular economic saying nowadays states that “When US sneezes, the world catches a cold.” might be true.

Economic uncertainty is not the sole domain of US at the moment. Like a domino it will surely affect the rest of the world not only because majority of the countries trade with the US but more so because of the fact that the world now is technologically connected. Thanks to the internet we can communicate in an instant with somebody half-way across the globe but sadly this technology can also cause everyone to fall like dominoes one after the other, economic-wise.

With this possible grim scenario and the volatility of the financial markets happening worldwide, we ask again, “Who Needs a Gas Credit Card These Days?” You already probably know the answer.

Except for the ultra rich billionaires, even without waiting for that time of great uncertainty to happen, ordinary people like us are already feeling the pinch. Most countries’ annual GNP and GDP are on the decline and the unemployment rates are on the rise. Lines of people availing of the government’s free social services are growing each day. We as ordinary consumers are left with no option but to stretch to the maximum whatever resources we have left. Financial and even credit resources must be maintained and sustained to weather these crises.

Availing of gas credit cards or fuel credit cards is one way of maximizing our limited and precious resources. With rebates on gas pump averaging 2% to 6% and even an introductory promo of 10% offered by most credit card companies means so much in these times. Surely anything saved can also be likened to an extra income earned as the accountants would say.

The best gas credit card can offer is not only rebates in the form of cash back but also rebates in the form of dining and travel purchases, gasoline and vehicle maintenance. Rebates can also be availed in supermarkets, drugstores and even when paying for utilities.

We need all our creative juices flowing in order to survive in these very trying times. Opening our eyes and minds to the options that are available for us today and utilizing them wisely will prove to be our greatest weapon in this battle for resources. The tough times are still ahead of us and there is still no end in sight.

Credit cards whatever their forms are should be used as a tool in these modern times. They are tools to create opportunities and even to propagate income. The only key here is how not to abuse this tool. Used properly bp credit card can somehow alleviate some of the suffering we are experiencing as ordinary consumers. And anything utilized in abuse like maxing-out your credit cards without a clear game plan on how and when to settle the monthly payments can be doubly disastrous. If you do, not only does the economy is ruined, your personal financial health is ruined as well. And we don’t want that to happen to anyone especially to ourselves.

If you have credit cards be disciplined enough not to over use it. Purchase only what you need and assume credits only for those you can pay with your existing income. Never borrow more than you can pay as this will compromise your future income. Fuel credit cards also carry sizable interest rates which for some unprepared can be a burden. Remember, with credit cards you are borrowing from your unearned income in the future by using it to buy actual purchases today. What will happen when you no longer have your future income but your monthly payments are still there? You also know the answer to this.

In every crisis, if we are wise there is always a lesson or two to be learned. Let’s hope that we learn from this current events unfolding before our eyes before it’s too late.

Hearing impairment and problems at school can you give me advice?

Question by heathersonline: Hearing impairment and problems at school can you give me advice?
have a hearing problem it is significant and mainly keeps me from hearing human voices clearly. High and low noises are much louder and often painful. I also have severe tinnitus (buzzing and ringing in my ears) that is exacerbated by spending time in noisey environments. I am in my 30s and in beauty school at a public votech. My hearing loss is relatively new. When I started school in January, I discussed it with my instructor, but he seems not to understand. There are some girls in the class who my carpool partner says sit around and gossip about me right in front of me. They have been saying that I had a drug problem in my 20s but not to my face and they get away with this because I can’t hear them doing it just inches away from me. They have spread this gossip to even my instructor and I think he believes it. It is so akward and I don’t want to be the person always whining, so I’ve started to avoid class, even though I am paying out of pocket while everyone else is on federal grants that I don’t qualify for. I am trying to get help w/ my hearing but it is a slow process going through the testing. I also have high blood pressure and my medication has recently had to be adjusted due b/c my bp is very high and it exacerbates my tinnitus and it with my tinnitus I get frequent headaches. These girls whisper and cackle and the loud laughing hurts my hears. I was out today and my teacher said to my car pool ride that he hopes I am dropping out. He is so unfair. My car pool friend was out the other day and he gave her credit for the entire day by clocking her in and out. I was out for a doctor’s appointment that day and I didn’t get any credit. He says that I have to get a doctor’s note to come back to school. I made an appointment w/ the psychologist at my doctor’s clinic tomorrow. I have social anxiety and a fear of going back to school now. I need her to help me deal with my depression and anxiety and fears and to write a note that will get these absences excused and get me back on track. I am not really behind in my school work, in fact I was rather upset that I sat in that class for the first 2 months but he didn’t have anything for us to do b/c he did not yet have our texts or beauty kits. Please tell me what I need to do tomorrow in speaking w/ that counselor to get the help I need. Thanks!

I have no idea what you need. Your situation is just too complicated.

You should have known before hand you would need a doctor’s note by the way.

As for those disparaging you, just ignore them. I know it’s hard but remember you are in beauty school to help better yourself. Don’t take on what others say. Trust you will be fine.

When You Have News, OWN IT!

Article by Jeffrey Lovingood

I once made my Dad so mad that even though I was calling him long distance, he hung up on me.

I don’t take delight in this. In fact, if anything, I’m kind of proud that I only screwed up that bad only once. While I seem to recall committing some of great moments of mental errors during my teen years, I’m guessing that my Dad showed a lot of patience internally.

Here’s how it went down. I was a freshmen in college and having the time of my life. Too bad stupid things like studying and classes had to get in the way. I was on my Dad’s version of academic probation for bad grades. Dad kept track of every test I had, what I was supposed to be studying, and kept in touch every week. One particular test had come along and I had gotten a “D”.

Which brings me to another point: Do not ever lie. I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not lie – ever! My wife doesn’t ask the cliché question about how she looks in her clothes just so I do not have to choose between lying or giving her a cliché answer.

I got my grade back on Thursday and, had I made a “B” or better, I would have called to brag. Since I did not get a good grade, I did not immediately call. Instead, I waited until my usual Sunday call home. The whole weekend was agony. To make it tougher on myself, I waited until the end of the day. The whole time I waited, I was terrified. Please note that my college was two hours away from my parent’s house, so it was not like I was actually in physical danger but it sure seemed like it.

Because it was Sunday, I knew that my Dad would be watching our favorite football team in action. Calling on Sunday morning wasn’t an option because my Dad – The Deacon – was at church. I also knew better than to call during the game because he’d know something was up. Game time came and our team took an early lead. I cleverly thought that if I waited until our team won, Dad would be in a little more cordial mood. Turns out our favorite team lost that day, badly. Hindsight tells me that this was the first sign of the upcoming apocalypse.

I finally summoned the courage to pick up the phone and dial home. Thankfully, my Mom answered. This gave me a chance to gauge to mood of the house and it seemed like everything was perfectly calm – a good starting point. After a significant amount of stalling on my part, it was time to break the news of my grade. Dad got on the phone and I attempted to bring up the game saying, “That’s too bad about our team.” This was my feeble attempt to remind him that his only son is really on his side. He didn’t want to hear any of it. He went straight to the test. “How did you do?” was his response.

No sooner had the words “UM, well…” left my lips when he knew the answer. I immediately began to get a lecture about how much he was paying for college (which I still don’t bring up) and how much fun I must be having at college (too much).

When Dad stopped talking, I began to tell him all of the glorious things I was going to do to make it better. He seemed to be listening, or silently planning my demise. The sudden sound of a dial tone let me know that he had hung up before I ever started talking. He never even heard the first sentence of my grand plan.

I realized that I was in a public place (my dorm’s hallway) talking into a phone with no one on the other end. I stood there in disbelief, feeling the shock of the situation and the joy of knowing the reality of the situation was better than I feared. Actual punishment is never as bad as the fear of punishment.

About a half-hour later, my Mom called. When I heard her voice I thought she was calling to comfort me. I mean, my Dad hung up the phone on me! No, she called to tell me how stupid it was of me to wait until after the football game was over to break bad news. Not that I was stupid, just the action I took. There’s a big difference.

Here is the point of what I want to get across to you: Whenever you have news, whether it be good or bad, own it. Commit to it. If truth be told, you need to own bad news better than you own good news.

My Dad knew there was bad news because I didn’t immediately call on Thursday. In your career, a good boss will begin to notice your tendencies. Do you bang the drum loudly for your successes and cower away to hide failures? If so, when you’re M.I.A., they’ll know when there is bad news. You can get away with passing the buck once or twice, but your co-workers will start know your nefarious intentions and will preempt your attempts at blame. This is an antagonistic relationship that you will ultimately lose.

If you make a mistake, own it. It’s the only way to get the situation handled correctly. When emergencies happen, companies that are slow to respond are vilified in the public eye. Exxon, BP and Tylenol are all case studies in how not to handle a bad situation. The same is true in your career. When a bad situation comes your way, acknowledge it, make a plan to resolve it, and implement your plan.

If, on the other hand, you achieve something of significance (i.e. – something more than just being the one person in the office who shows up on time every day) – own it – but be sure to be humble. Give credit where credit is due and acknowledge all assistance. No one is perfect, and you will need good will from your supervisor and your peers to overcome the errors that we all inevitably make.

I once had a boss who said, “It takes ten ‘atta-boys’ to overcome one ‘Oops!’” Owning your actions can help you better the odds.

If you need a mentor to light the way for you, contact us now and get started!
