Tempe-Based Agency Joins Ranks of National, Award-Winning Agencies

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) June 17, 2010

Mindspace, a full-service advertising, public relations and new media agency brought home Gold this weekend from the National ADDY Awards Show and Gala in Orlando, Fla. for its self-promotion campaign, “The Mindspace 2010 Calendar of Rejected Campaign Slogans.”

Mindspace won Best of Show at the Phoenix Metro ADDYs in March, and received Gold at the District Twelve ADDY Award Competition in April, which catapulted the campaign into the national competition where the firm joined an elite group of winners, including BBDO’s Starbuck’s Port Authority Campaign, Leo Burnett/Arc Worldwide’s Symantec Norton Internet Campaign, and MJZ’s Career Builder ‘Casual Friday’ Campaign.

With over 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY® Awards are the world’s largest and toughest advertising competition. At the national competition, Mindspace was judged alongside more than 1,500 District Gold winners from some of the biggest agencies across the nation.

“We were playing around with a few rejected campaign slogans one day and the idea really took off,” said Brent Shelter, Principal and Creative Director at Mindspace. “We just let our creativity lead us, and it took us straight to a National Gold Addy.”

Braving the danger of hot glue guns, Mindspace not only designed and wrote copy for the entire calendar, but also assembled it during a pre-Christmas office party. Some sample entries include:

January 7 – Cracker Barrel – “It’s like the Old West opened an Applebee’s.”
January 25 – Velcro – “Tell the world you’re unfastening.”
July 2 – Reader’s Digest – “Your number one source of pictures of old people on rollerblades.”
April 8 – Charmin Bath Tissue – “Separating humans from monkeys.”
May 19 – Ikea – “We promise to help you find the exit if you will please stop screaming.”
    October 6 – Nationwide – “We’re on your side, unless you’re a 16-25 year old male.”
    November 29 – AOL – “Fond…memories…of…dial-up…domination…”

The rejected slogan of the day is available on Mindspace’s daily Twitter feed, @mindspaceagency and a PDF of the first month can be found on the company’s website.

Future plans for the calendar include but aren’t limited to:

1.    Purchase by BP for use as proprietary technology to plug the big hole causing that horrific oil leak;

2.    Inclusion into a “Thank you for kind of deescalating!” care package to North Korean President Kim Jong Il;

3.    Endorsement by SCRAM and Alcohol Monitoring Systems, Inc. to help Lindsay Lohan remember her court dates.

About Mindspace

In business since 2002, and coming off the big win of a “Best in Show” Addy Award, Mindspace has experienced tremendous growth every year since it hung out its shingle – both in terms of revenues and clients–even during this recession. What makes Mindspace different? First, we’re one of the smaller full-service agencies around–just the right size to be quick and nimble but open to any solution from direct mail to social media, PR, email campaigns, cool web projects and viral videos. Second, our creative and MBA types take a unique and super-secret approach to creating concepts to consistently deliver stellar work and, third, we develop scrappy strategies based on real-world executive business experience. We have folks from Microsoft, Marriott and Google who know what it’s like to work in a big company with accountability and political sensitivities, as well as startup experience with tiny budgets and mercurial speed requirements. With B2B and B2C customers on both coasts and in between, this highly decorated, award-winning agency is building a loyal following of clients and employees, and making the other big dogs in town nervous. We’re the place rising rock stars go after they’ve paid their dues in PR/ad factories and are ready to enjoy their job immensely. For more information, visit http://www.Mindspace.net.

Ford Wins Back-to-Back Titles

(PRWEB) November 22, 2007

The Castrol-backed Ford Team has won the World Rally Championship (WRC) manufacturers title for the second successive season thanks to Mikko Hirvonen’s fourth place on the inaugural WRC Rally Ireland. Marcus Grönholm failed to score meaning the drivers’ title will be decided in the final event of the season, Rally GB in two weeks time.

Rally Ireland was the newest event to enter the WRC calendar and the first time the ‘Emerald Isle’ has featured in the series. The bumpy nature of the roads was always feared as a danger area as Castrol-Ford (http://www.castrol.com/castrol/genericarticle.do?categoryId=9014782&contentId=7038485 ) driver Marcus Grönholm found out to his cost – the championship leader crashed heavily on the opening morning.

Having taken an early lead Grönholm had slipped to third and was fighting back when the Focus went off the road on SS4. “The roads were like ice this morning,” said the Finn. “I braked for a bend near the end of the stage but the car slid sideways before hitting a wall hard. It was a big impact because we stopped immediately.”

Grönholm and co-driver Timo Rautiainen went to hospital where they were given the all-clear but the same could not be said of the Focus and, for the second event running, the damage was too severe to allow the Finn to rejoin.

With Grönholm out of contention, team mate Mikko Hirvonen turned his attention not to chasing victory but to ensuring he gained the three points necessary for Castrol-Ford to retain its manufacturers’ World Championship crown. ‘Friday was the hardest day of the season so far,” he said. “I couldn’t find a good rhythm because I was trying to drive safely and when you do that you make mistakes.”

After opening in Southern Ireland, Saturday’s route was concentrated in the north but heavy rain meant that caution was still the watchword. “The stages in this area are good with jumps and crests like we have in Finland,” said Hirvonen. “If the weather had been dry they would have been incredibly fast.”

With just four stages on the final day, Hirvonen was taking no chances and duly brought the Focus home in a title-winning fourth place. “This was a great result for the team but a difficult event for me as I couldn’t risk pushing for a better overall place and risk not scoring the points the team needed,” he said.

With the Manufacturers’ title secure attention now turns to Marcus Grönholm’s quest to steal the crown from under Sebastien Loeb’s nose on the final round in Wales in two weeks’ time.

Ford team manager Malcolm Wilson said: ‘It’s a fantastic feeling to win back-to-back championships. To win with one event remaining is amazing. Mikko did a perfect job this weekend and after Marcus’ retirement, he fully understood the role he had to play this weekend and he did it to perfection.’

Unity to Launch 100 Days of Prayer for the Gulf This Sunday, June 20

Unity to Launch 100 Days of Prayer for the Gulf This Sunday, June 20

Unity Village, MO (PRWEB) June 18, 2010

Unity School of Christianity, in conjunction with Unity churches across the country, is launching 100 days of prayer affirming the recovery of the Gulf of Mexico. The 100 days will begin Sunday, June 20, and will conclude Thursday, Sept. 9, the date of Unity’s annual World Day of Prayer.

The initiative follows an announcement by Rev. Patricia Reiter, senior minister of Unity Church of Venice, Florida. Reiter will lead a blessing service for the Gulf at 3 p.m. eastern time on Sunday, June 20, at Manasota Beach, near Englewood, Florida. The purpose of the prayer is to surround the water, people, plants and animals impacted by the oil spill in love and prayer.

Reiter is encouraging people everywhere to participate on Sunday in order to convert mass frustration over the spill into a positive force for good. Persons living in coastal areas along the Gulf are encouraged to pray at the shoreline. Persons in other areas are invited to offer the blessing over a ceremonial container of water. Reiter is also urging her congregation and others to participate in 100 days of positive prayer for the Gulf.

Unity Village, world headquarters of the Unity movement, will affirm the recovery of the Gulf at its regularly scheduled prayer services, at 11 a.m. central time Monday through Thursday.

“Rev. Reiter’s prayer for the Gulf will also be placed in our Prayer Vigil Chapel for 100 days,” said Rev. Lynne Brown, vice president of Silent Unity. The Silent Unity prayer ministry, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, responds to nearly 2 million prayer requests annually. Silent Unity prayer associates are available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to pray for those affected by the Gulf oil spill or other situations. The phone number is 1-800-NOW-PRAY. Prayer support is also available online at http://www.silentunity.org.

Although oil hasn’t currently reached Venice, Florida, Reiter feels called to lead the Gulf blessing service. “I was feeling such anger, frustration and sadness, as I know many others are. What we know and teach in Unity is that our thoughts, words and feelings are creative. Negative energies will only channel more negativity. I believe this prayer event will give everyone involved a chance to feel they’re doing something positive to make a difference for the Gulf and all its inhabitants.”

The blessing service will include prayers Reiter wrote, as well as a prayer by Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese researcher and author best known for his experiments with water crystals. Through high-speed photography of water at the moment of freezing, Emoto claims to show the direct consequences of destructive thoughts on the crystals and the positive effects of thoughts of love and appreciation on their formation. Emoto’s findings suggest that thoughts can influence water.

Reiter learned of Emoto’s work through the documentary “What the Bleep Do We Know?” “I was impressed that the energy of love was being used to clear polluted bodies of water,” she explains. “We know that the energy of love is the most powerful force on the planet for healing everything.”

Unity encourages spiritual leaders of all faiths to use these prayers with their congregations:

Prayer for the Gulf by Rev. Patricia Reiter:

In a state of divine union with God, I open my heart to allow the energy of pure love and appreciation to flow from me to everyone and everything. In the pure love of God, I am one with the earth, the air, the water, the soil, the trees, the plants and all their life-giving organisms.

In the pure love of God, I am one with all beings on the earth. I honor, respect and cherish all living things.

In the pure love of God, I release all thoughts, behaviors, beliefs and ideas that are not in harmony with the highest and best good for all.

In the pure love of God, I make wise choices and take right actions to preserve our planet for ourselves and all future generations.

In the pure love of God, I hold all countries, corporations, businesses, organizations, institutions and their leaders in prayer for harmony, peace, collaboration, wisdom and smart decisions for the highest and best good of our planet and its peoples.

In the pure love of God, I am united with all spiritually conscious beings. Together we hold the high watch for positive change for our world. In the name of all that is sacred, we daily lift our world family in prayer for health, peace, love, joy, wisdom, prosperity and safety.

Prayer for the Gulf by Dr. Masaru Emoto:

To whales, dolphins, manatees, pelicans, seagulls and all aquatic bird species, fishes, shellfish, planktons, coral, algae and all creatures in the Gulf of Mexico, I am sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Words cannot describe this devastation. Thank goodness for videos, and for videographers like John Wathen who has documented this catastrophe. Mr. Wathen recalls that day…”This was the most emotionally disturbing video I have ever done! A flight over the BP Slick Source where I saw at least 100 Dolphins in the oil, some dying. I also photographed a Sperm Whale covered in oil all around it’s blow hole.” It’s as if all the possible horrors of the world were put in one bucket, mixed up and hurled into the Gulf of Mexico. One cannot underestimate the effects of the “spill”. This is a gulf, not a lake. The gulf is a large appendage of the even larger Atlantic Ocean. There are loop currents and gulf stream conveyor belts that move whatever happens in a specific area in the gulf into places scientist can only speculate. The planet is a living organism. It has a heartbeat of 7.8 HZ. Give it sun, an through their symbiotic relationship, plants grow upon it. Microbes can digest oil which seeps through naturally occurring fissures under the sea. However, the toxic chemical dispersant, Corexit, is interfering with that process. Look what we are leaving the children of Earth. What more of a wake up call do we need? Corners were cut when this well was drilled. Safety measures that every other nation would have mandated were allowed to be omitted by the US government. Why? The simplest answer is for more profit. Is there an M.D. who can help with a question?

Question by 13th Floor: Is there an M.D. who can help with a question?
I know you can’t diagnose me on Yahoo answers.
I do have an appointment with my physician to obtain a holter monitor, but would appreciate any insight in the meantime.

I have traditionally had high blood pressure, which has been difficult to moderate, even on various medications. I am thin, and do not eat an unhealthy diet. Lately, I have been feeling dizzy and fatigued – when I take my BP reading at home, it is sometimes 90/60 – extremely low for me. Sometimes, I awaken at night with a brief bout of tachycardia. I guess I am afraid I might be developing heart failure (I do have MVR, but only mild at last echo). Any thoughts would be appreciated, as my appointment isn’t until 8 more days. Thanks.
Oh, my, Ron, you are a just a barrel of laughs – go mow the lawn or something.

Can birth control give you high blood pressure?

Question by SniperBaby: Can birth control give you high blood pressure?
I’ve been on Yaz for almost a year.
For the past month my blood pressure has been oddly high. About 142/94. My bp this time last year was consistently 116/74. I am also on 200mg lamictal, 10mg ambien, and .5mg klonopin.

I am going to the doctor for a physical Feb 9. I am wondering, if it is indeed caused by the meds, and I go off, will my bp return to normal? Or is this damage permanent?

Also, I have a decent diet and exercise almost every day.

Thank you.
Also, I’m only 19.

Good things you are going to the doctor.

A drug combo is more likely to cause high BP then one drug.

When I lay down the BP is like 10 point lower. So what should I consider as my BP the sitting or the lay down? Right now it is 142/95 sitting and when I lay down it drops to 130/85

sitting. That’s how it’s done at doctors, so I’m assuming that’s most accurate.
