Kalamazoo River Oil Spill July 2010

An oil pipeline broke at the Enbridge Energy company leading oil to leak into the Kalamazoo River. Cleanup is underway, but the oil is moving fast downstream, and headed for Lake Michigan. The smell is very strong near the river down by County Park where this video was taken.

Oil rig explodes in the Gulf of Mexico — Drill baby drill

In 2008 President Bush lifted a ban on offshore drilling in place since 1982. Republican politicians worked together with the lobbyists to assure everyone how safe it was. During the presidential campaign republican supporters chanted “drill baby drill” in ecstacy. April 22, 2010 the Deepwater Horizon oil rig suffered an explosion and sank. Now oil threatens the coast of Louisiana and its entire economy.
